A beginner’s course at London School of Photography
Last weekend I got both my highlighters and my notepad out and I went back to school.
I honestly woke up on Saturday morning SO excited to get ready and to head to London School of Photography for their Level 1 course. Sunday too.
My weekend with LSP has sparked a new love for photography and after completing the course, I’m ready to experiment, to take my new knowledge out on some adventures and to take my photography to the next level.
Why did I do a beginner’s course in photography?
Though I work full time in content creation, everything I know has been self taught or rubbed off onto me by legends I’ve hung out with over the years. I never studied photography or video and I was never taught the basics.
This had meant that, though I knew my way around a camera and didn’t shoot in auto, there were most definitely gaps in my knowledge.
It’s not unusual now that I do commissioned photography work and I’m getting some awesome respect for the images I take. So I figured it was about time I cemented my knowledge behind the lens and filled in the gaps. This Level 1 course did exactly that and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
*This course was gifted to me by London School of Photography but it was my choice to write a blog post and all of these opinions are completely my own. You can trust every word I say! I wouldn’t say it otherwise.
Where is London School of Photography?
London School of Photography is right in the centre of London, a 2 minute walk from Holborn Underground station (Central line). The school is in a beautiful house with multiple classrooms. Whilst I was there doing my Level 1 Photography course, there was another classroom occupied with a wedding photography course. It’s a lovely venue!
Is London School of Photography right for you?
- want to start photography?
- want to start right from the beginning and understand how a camera works?
- want to understand how to compose an image?
- want to get out of Auto mode on your camera?
If you answered yes to one or more of the above, this course could be a wonderful choice for you. It honestly takes you right back to the start and comprehensively goes through everything from how a camera works to how to create those dreamy shots with all the settings present on your camera.
There’s no question too silly and with the small class sizes you can guarantee all the one-on-one time you need to solifidy your skills before completing the course.
Which course should you take?
If you’re a complete beginner, Level 1 starts right at the beginning so will be the perfect first step for you.
If you’re a bit more advanced, there’s Level 2 (I’m going to take this next) but there’s also a whole array of courses for you to choose from. If you know your basics and would like to specialise in, say, wedding photography… London School of Photography can cater for you too.
