How To Document Memories When You’re Travelling

 In Backpacking, Get Inspired

If there’s one thing I love nearly as much as travelling and creating new memories, it’s capturing them and preserving them for rainy days and for years to come.

Life most certainly has its ups and downs, and if I’m ever having a down day, the best thing for me is to remember happy times, happy places, knowing that more of the same are just around the corner.

There are so many ways that you can capture your memories on your travels, and I’m sure you may already have your own ways.

But here are just a few ways that I love to capture mine…

1. A scrapbook

My scrapbook is one of my most prized possessions and I started it when I was 17. It allows me too look back on all my favourite times over the past six years. It’s NEVER too late to start, and the best time to start is now.

I collect plane tickets, ferry passes, and anything little whilst I’m travelling, to add character to my scrapbook.

Scrapbooks can be quite time consuming to do but every 6 months I sit down for a weekend, print some photos from Cheerz {You can use ‘MOLLAO’ for a £4 discount} and do an update.

Bits I use:

2. A virtual scrapbook on Facebook

Some of you may not have the patience for scrapbooking or editing videos/ slideshows, so simply upload your favourite pictures from each place you visit to a Facebook album and create yourself a virtual scrapbook.

3. Collect corks

I collect corks from special occasions where bubbles have been popped, and with a Sharpee I capture the date, location and company in which I shared it.

4. A photo wall

Print off your favourite snaps and stick them up on your wall to remind you of all the good times.

Glue dots are great for sticking these to your wall – shop here

5. A world map

Get a wall map and pin/ highlight the places you’ve travelled to.

Every time you look at you map it will trigger a memory or moment that will make you cringe, laugh or smile and the memories will live on forever.

6. A GoPro

You gotta have something to capture the memories on. Right?

I may be an ambassador for GoPro, but I swear down this is THE best way to capture them. Whether you’re skiing through the mountains, diving with sharks, swimming with turtles or chilling on the beach, this bad boy will capture it all in HD and you just need to slide it in your back pocket.

7. Put a video together when you return home

Capture photos /  videos on your camera and then put them together to create a montage of all your favourite moments. If you have an Apple device, download the iMovie app or use the installed iMovie application on your desktop and throw some music in with your imagery.

If you’re using GoPro then try the brand new Quik app… it does ALL the hard work for you.

8. Make a photo album from Cheerz

Forget the hassle of a scrapbook and select your photos straight from social media. Rearrange your favs and get them sent to you in a pre-printed book, ready to browse from your coffee table.
