A couple of weeks ago, I was invited down to the Sofitel, St. James alongside a few other lifestyle bloggers to sample their Chelsea Flower Show inspired afternoon tea in The Rose Lounge.
The Chelsea Flower Show 2015 will take place 19th-23rd May, however this exclusive afternoon tea will be running throughout the WHOLE of May for your enjoyment.
(P.s. Sofitel St.James actually hosts afternoon tea
all year round if you find you can’t make these dates).
Just a stone’s throw away from some of London’s most treasured landmarks (Horse Guards Parade, St.James Park, Piccadilly Circus), Sofitel, St.James is in the perfect location and even offers Hotel service should you be seeking a place to rest your heads.
The whole vibe of the hotel is very ‘Paris meets London’ – filled with traditional detail, influence and full of character.
As you enter The Rose Lounge, where the tea is hosted, you will experience this very Parisian elegance which is soft, yet intimate and very very welcoming…
And as for the food – well, this was no ordinary spread.
The sandwiches served fresh and seasonal, the scones warm, and the clotted cream creamier than possibly desired.
Major spotlight though, goes on the selection of limited edition sweet treats, especially curated by head chef Vincent Menager for this tea.
I know, pastries are pastries and they taste good where ever you get them, but these 4 bundles of joy BURSTED from the seams with floral flavour and with each mouthful I was questioning just how these flavours could even exist.
My favourite was the ‘Hibiscus’ (the one in the pot) which was a concoction of Raspberry jelly, mascarpone cream, rose jelly, hibiscus jelly and crystallised rose petals.
Nothing short of DREAMY.
Ma-hoo-sive thumbs up to Vincent – 10/10.
Not only, actually, did they excel in the sweet treat department, but also the Tea department.
The tea options were extensive, versatile and accommodating for any type of mood.
The teas on offer are sourced from the largest and oldest french tea house, Dammann Freres
and flaunt everything from Star Elixr (Green tea with meadowsweet, blackcurrant, red vine leaves, elderflower, peppermint and fennel) to my favourite, Earl Grey Yin Zhen (Black tea with white tips, flower petals and bergamot).
Served in the cutest little black tea pots, the teas are the perfect compliment to a beautiful spread of delicacies.
Oh, WAIT, one more dreamy addition. A live harpist will subtly serenade you into pure relaxation from the corner of the lounge to complete the ULTIMATE afternoon of indulgence…
